SILVERLAKES LOOKS TO SET ANOTHER NATIONAL RECORD THIS YEAR WITH MORE THAN 15,000 COMPETITIVE HIGH SCHOOL RUNNERS JOINING THE38TH ANNUAL SKECHERS WOODBRIDGE CROSS COUNTRY CLASSIC

On the heels of a record setting event last year, student athletes from hundreds of High Schools across the nation will gather at SilverLakes for its signature competitive distance running event.

For the third consecutive year, the Woodbridge Cross Country Invitationalwill be held September 14-15, 2018 at SilverLakes, a 130-acre multifunctional sports, equestrian and entertainment venue in Norco, California. Each year this event has gained energy achieving a record last year in terms of attendance with more than 14,800 registered runners taking part. This year looks to be the biggest yet with more than 350 teams pre-registered and more than 15,000 competitors.

“We are pleased to once again welcome thousands of competitive cross country runners to SilverLakes. As we enter our third year hosting this distance event, we are hitting new attendance records and this event should again be the nation’s largest annual high school distance event. I know many kids are excited to set a personal best on our even and manicured terrain under the lights on Friday and Saturday,” said RJ Brandes, General Manager.

The first session will begin on Friday, September 14 at 4:50 p.m. and will feature the Red and White divisions.  On Saturday, racing starts at 3:50 p.m. and will feature the Blue and Gold divisions.  Last year event records were broken and we are anticipating new records this year.

“SilverLakes has been an incredible host and supporter of our Woodbridge Cross Country Invitational. All of our participants and their families were so impressed by the facilities last year and we are expecting our largest crowd ever,” said George Vargas, organizer of this event.

SilverLakes continues to demonstrate its ability as a venue to incubate and grow athletic events and competitions. The growth seen in the Skechers Woodbridge event and others like it serve as an economic driver for the surrounding community. The more than 15,000 runners and the many thousands of friends and family coming into the area will provide an economic boost to the area shops, restaurants and hotels.

“We are pleased with the growth of our sporting events and the opportunities we are providing young athletes. The economic opportunities we are providing area families is another stated goal of SilverLakes and we are pleased with the progress made towards our ongoing pledge to continue to invest in our community,” said Brandes.
