2017 CAL SOUTH STATE CUP – MAYORS DIVISION
  • The Mayors Division has been established to give new competitive teams a chance to play and compete for a statewide championship against other startup teams and similar level competitive programs.
  • Teams in RED can play in the Mayors Division; can also play up in the Governors or Presidents Divisions.
  • Open to all teams playing in a Cal South Sanctioned League as follows:
    • 2008/9U – All team levels for teams with fewer Wins and Ties than Losses.
    • 2007/10U and 2006/11U – Bronze Division (equal or lower) with fewer Wins and Ties than Losses.
    • 2008/9U, 2007/10U and 2006/11U – All Cal South Signature League, Recreational League and AYSO teams participating in a Cal South sanctioned league.
  • The Mayors Division is a “blind draw” unseeded tournament.
  • There is no further competition outside of Southern California for the Mayors Division.
2017 CAL SOUTH STATE CUP – GOVERNORS DIVISION
  • The 2008/9U, 2007/10U and 2006/11U Governors Division is for mid-level competitive teams looking to compete in a state championship competition.
  • The 2005/12U to 2001/16U Governors Division is for lower-level competitive, Bronze level or equivalent, Signature and recreational teams seeking to experience a competitive State championship.
  • Teams in ORANGE MUST play in at least the Governors Division, can play up in the Presidents Division or National Cup.
  • Open to all teams playing in a Cal South Sanctioned League in the Bronze Division equal, or lower (includes all Recreation and Signature League teams) in the 2008/9U through 2001/16U age groups, except:
    • 2008/9U age group – Teams with more Wins and Ties than Losses MUST play in the Governors Division (or higher).
    • 2007/10U and 2006/11U age groups – Bronze Division (or equal) teams must play in the Governors Division or higher. Bronze Division (or equal) teams with fewer Wins than Losses, can Appeal per the procedure below, to play in the Mayors Division.
  • The Governors Division is a seeded tournament based on the team’s performance in last year’s State Tournaments and Fall League results.
  • There is no further competition for the Governors Division outside of Southern California.
2017 CAL SOUTH STATE CUP – PRESIDENTS DIVISION
  • At 2008/9U, 2007/10U and 2006/11U, the Presidents Division is for the best of the best teams to compete in their age group for a state championship.
  • At 2005/12U to 1998/19U, the Presidents Division is for mid-level competitive teams to compete for a state championship, with the ability to travel and go on to regional and national US Youth Soccer competitions.
  • Teams in GREEN MUST play at least State Cup Presidents Division; teams can play up in National Cup.
  • The Presidents Division is a seeded tournament based on the team’s performance in last year’s State Tournaments and Fall League results.
  • In the 2008/9U-2006/11U and 1998/19U age groups, the Presidents Division is open to all teams playing in Cal South Sanctioned Leagues in all play levels.
  • In the 2005/12U through 2000/17U age groups, the Presidents Division is open to all teams playing in Cal South Sanctioned Leagues in Silver Division, or equal, or lower.
  • Champions in the 2004/13U-2000/17U age groups will represent Cal South in the 2017 US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup Regionals in Salt Lake City, Utah, June 13-19, 2017.
  • Winners of the Regionals in the 2004/13U-2000/17U age groups will advance to the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup Championships in Auburndale, Florida, July 12-16, 2017.
